Gorgeously unsettling.

id Software and Bethesda’s reboot of the classic, pioneering first person shooter franchise DOOM is almost here, and ahead of the launch of the game less than two weeks from now, they have released some brand new artwork for us all to feast our eyes upon.

The artwork is glorious, and unsettlingly disturbing, showing us the kinds of tormented hellscapes that we have come to associate with the DOOM games. Since this is all artwork, it isn’t exactly a 1:1 accurate representation of what the game itself looks like, of course- but it’s still a gorgeous rendition of the look and tone of the game.

DOOM will launch next Friday, on May 13, 2016, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is the fourth DOOM game, and the first one since DOOM 3 released in 2004,over ten years ago. Expectations are high, and the pressure is on- will DOOM be able to live up to the pent up hype and expectations? We’ll find out soon.
