As rumored earlier today when Trophies were discovered, Double Fine Productions’ Keeper is coming to PS5 today. Currently available on Xbox Series X/S and PC, it’s about a sentient walking lighthouse that explores a strange land alongside a bird, witnessing untold wonders.
The main appeal of Keeper is that it’s a wordless story, where the environment and gestures of its folk, whether it’s the strange denizens or the lighthouse, do the talking. It starts relatively simple as you explore the land to gain your bearings, but the gameplay slowly reveals itself to be full of interesting puzzles. Don’t expect anything on the level of Blue Prince, though – they can be a little easy, as noted in our review.
Regardless, Double Fine’s stellar art direction and soundtrack are on full display. As for why Keeper is available on PS5 after being an Xbox console exclusive, it’s because the studio recently split from the company, returning to independence. It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows – layoffs were announced shortly after – but Double Fine is now the publisher for all of its titles.
Which means all revenue goes directly to the team. We don’t know what it’s working on next, but its Amnesia Fortnight 2026 Kickstarter is live, where players can vote on concepts and what they work on next.
