Wrapping up its deep dive into Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s progression systems, BioWare focuses on progression for your companions. Unlike Rook, they can only equip a main hand weapon, an off-hand weapon or Keepsake, armor, and a Trinket. Exclusive gear exists for them, like the Legendary Corvid Cloak for Lucanis, which can be upgraded and Enchanted.
Each companion also has different Skill Trees. While not as extensive as Rook’s, you can spec into Skills that complement your build (like Neve’s Ice abilities for detonating primed targets). Of course, they can also take care of any weaknesses. One example is Davrin, whose Fire abilities make him ideal against Darkspawn if you don’t feel like significantly changing your build.
Thus far, the possibilities for team compositions and builds look pretty extensive. Dragon Age: The Veilguard arrives on October 31st for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, so stay tuned for more details and gameplay.
