Spider-Man and the PlayStation 4 topped charts in September 2018, as per The NPD Group’s reports. However, an interesting bit of news was also revealed about Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of An Elusive Age. Though it placed eleventh in the overall software sales chart, NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella said on Twitter that it was the biggest launch month in franchise history.
Not only that, but its dollar sales were more than double of the previous best-selling title Dragon Quest 9: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (released in 2010 for Nintendo 3DS). Though actual sales figures weren’t shared, this should come as good news for Square Enix. In September, producer Hokuto Okamoto revealed that Dragon Quest 11 would have to sell well in order for future titles to be localized.
Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of An Elusive Age is available for PC and PlayStation 4 in the West. It will also be coming to Nintendo Switch as Dragon Quest 11 S, but no release date has been confirmed yet. Check out GamingBolt’s official review of the game here to see if it’s worth playing.
Some folks asking about Dragon Quest XI… it was the biggest launch month in franchise history with dollar sales more than double the previous best, DQ9.
