E3 2010: Valve Sheds More Light on their ‘Surprise,’ Confirms It’s Portal 2 Themed

Posted By | On 11th, Jun. 2010

Trust Valve to grab public imagination without actually commiting to anything. Having recently announced that they’d be unveiling a ‘surprise’ at this year’s E3, they’ve somewhat kept tight lipped about it ever since, while popular speculation has run rampant regarding the issue. What could this surprise be exactly? Is it (FINALLY) Half Life 2: Episode 3? Or have the just ditched the episode moniker, and opted to release a full blown Half Life 3 instead? Could it not be Left 4 Dead 3? We know it’s not Portal 2, that title has been announced and confirmed (and delayed) already.

Yeah, well, think again. In a somewhat disappointing turn of events, Valve has confirmed that their E3 surprise will be Portal 2 themed, which considerably narrows down list of announcements that could surprise or excite us. Unless Portal 2 as a game is something that totally blows us away, and leads to a paradigm shift in gaming and how it is perceived, exactly what could be so exciting or surprising about it?

Maybe they’ll be revealing the game coming to the Mac as well. Yeah. Or maybe they somehow managed to bring it to all the consoles, Wii and PS3 included. No, that doesn’t make much sense.

Be what it may, we don’t have to wait long enough. With E3 knocking at our doors, I think it’s time for us all to stop speculating, and to look forward to some cold hard facts to be clarified and confirmed in a matter of days.
