It probably doesn’t surprise you that Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s hit action RPG, has side quests. Every open world game has them so it’s to be expected, right? However, it’s not quite that simple. As fans of the Soulsborne series will know, many side quests have a myriad of requirements which are not at all obvious at first. Where you go, who you talk to, who you align with and what to do next – it’s all kept a secret with no quest log to guide you.
As you might imagine, it’s very easy to fail a quest or turn some once friendly NPCs against you. We’ll go over each side quest in detail and what they offer but keep in mind that it may be difficult to complete everything since certain NPC questlines affect different endings and other NPCs. Without further ado, let’s take a look at all of the quests and how to complete them. For details on how to obtain certain key items, head here. You can also check out the strongest weapons in the game here.
Boc the Seamster
The first step to this side quest is freeing Boc. He can be found south of the Agheel Lake North’s Site of Grace in Limgrave, stuck as a tree. Once he’s freed, you can speak to him in the Coastal Cave. Defeat the boss in this area and then speak to him again – give him his sewing tools. You’ll next find Boc at Liurnia of the Lakes near the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace, and then at the East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace (where he can be given the Golden Needle).
From there, he’ll move to the Altus Highway Junction’s Site of Grace, followed by the East Capital Rampart’s Site of Grace. He’ll then ask to be reborn by Rennala and you can give him a Larval Tear. When you rest, Boc will then be seen next to Rennala. After resting again, he’ll die. There’s also the option to use the Prattling Pate for “You’re Beautiful” and speak to him about this but it doesn’t seem to continue the quest. Given how some NPCs received additional quest steps post-launch, it’s entirely possible that Boc’s questline progresses further. For now though, there’s not much to be done.
Roderika
Roderika is first located in Stormhill Shack in Limgrave. Talk to her until all of her dialogue has been exhausted. Venture to Stormveil Castle and upon retrieving the Chrysalids’ Memento, give to her. Proceed to speak to her and then Smithing Master Hewg in the Roundtable Hold until the latter takes her as an apprentice. Go back to Stormveil Castle to the same spot where the Memento was found to obtain the Crimson Hood. Following developments with the Erdtree in the story, Roderika will be in the Roundtable Hold and asks you to convince Hewg to leave it. Do this and he’ll be found somewhere else.
D Hunter of the Dead
Venture past Saintsbridge in Stormhill and you’ll find D. Upon telling you about the Summonwater Village Ruins, go there and defeat the enemies present. Go back and speak to D who will provide a Sending Gate location. This leads to the Bestial Sanctum where you can meet Gurranq.
After this, defeat the Tibia Mariner boss, either in Summonwater Village Outskirts, Wyndham Catacombs, Artist’s Shack or Snow Valley Ruins Overlook. You can also summon D to help out in this fight. Open defeating him, you need to get the Bestial Sanctum map. Do this and D will be present in the Roundtable Hold. Upon completing Fia’s quest, give him the Weathered Dagger. When you return to the area, the door that leads to the Roundtable Hold’s right side will be open but D will have passed on.
White-Faced Varre
You’ll remember Varre as the rude fellow who called you maidenless in Limgrave (along with insinuating that you should die in a ditch). The first step of his quest is to speak to Varre at The First Step’s Site of Grace. Keep talking until all of his dialogue has been exhausted. You’ll now want to play normally, meeting with Milena, receiving the Spirit Steed Whistle to summon Torrent and ultimately heading to the Roundtable Hold. Once there, speak to everyone and exhaust all of their dialogue. Return to The First Step and speak to Varre again until he has nothing left to say.
Your next task is to defeat Godrick the Grafted in the Stormveil Castle Legacy Dungeon. Keep in mind that the lack of lock-out conditions for this quest means it’s entirely possible to come back to this fight when you’re properly leveled up. If you’re having any difficulties, feel free to explore more, find some better armor and loot, and then return.
Once Godrick has been defeated though, return to the Roundtable Hold and speak to Enia. Exhaust all of her dialogue, then return to Varre and exhaust his dialogue. Your next task is to meet him at the Rose Church and hear all of his dialogue until you receive five Festering Bloody Fingers. These can be used to conduct invasions – do three of them to proceed to the next step. Don’t worry about failing – completing the invasions is enough to satisfy the requirement.
Return to The First Step’s Site of Grace and speak to Varre. He’ll offer to knight you – accept this and you’ll receive the Lord of Blood’s Favor. Your next step is to soak it with a maiden’s blood. This can be done in three ways: First, go to The Four Belfries in the northwest and look for the second tallest belfry. You’ll have to fight a Grafted Scion but once that’s done, walk up to the Chapel of Anticipation. This is actually where you first started the game, which is neat. Look for the corpse of a maiden and interact with it to bloody the cloth.
Alternatively, you can go to the Church of Inhibition to the northeast, near the Grand Lift. There will be a dead maiden here as well and you can wipe the cloth with her blood. The third method is to kill Hyetta (which of course locks out her quest). She’s first located at the Lake-Facing Cliffs, near its Site of Grace but if you’ve given her any Shabriri Grapes, her location will change. If you gave her one, then she’ll be at the Purified Ruins instead; give her another and she’ll be at the Bellum Church. We’ll talk about her other locations later but for now, you can kill her and bloody the cloth.
Return to Varre with the Bloodied Lord of Blood’s Favor – you’ll receive a Bloody Finger that can be used an unlimited number of times for invading. He’ll also give you a Pureblood Knight’s Medal, which can teleport you to the Site of Grace for the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance, just outside Mohgwyn Palace (where you can fight Mohg, Lord of Blood). Ignore Varre’s advice to not use it yet since there’s no other purpose for the item besides to teleport you to Mohgwyn Palace.
Of course, that’s not the end. Use the Pureblood Knight’s Medal and venture to the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance. Explore until you come across the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint’s Site of Grace. Look for a red sign nearby – you’ll invade Varre’s world and can kill him. Return to your world and you’ll spot Varre on the ground. Speak to him until his dialogue is exhausted and he dies. You’ll receive some Festering Bloody Fingers and Varré’s Bouquet which deals Bleed damage and scales off of Arcane.
Hyetta
Remember Hyetta from Varre’s quest? Travel to the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace to meet her for the first time. She’ll request Shabriri Grapes – give her one and she’ll give you the Gesture “As You Wish.” She’ll then move to the Purified Ruins on the Western side. Talk to her again and give another Shabriri Grape. Hyetta will then move close to the Gate Town Bridge’s Site of Grace and request another Shabriri Grape.
After giving this to her, she’ll move to the Bellum Church but this time, requests a Fingerprint Grape. To obtain this, you’ll need to defeat the Festering Fingerprint Vyke near the Church of Inhibition. Once given to Hyetta, she’ll be found in the Frenzied Flame Proscription and offer the Three Fingers Flame. Accept this and Hyetta will become your maiden. This outcome will not only affect Melina but also the ending so keep that in mind.
Nepheli Loux
Nepheli Loux is first found in the courtyard near Godrick the Grafted’s Site of Grace. Speak to her and she’ll eventually offer to help in fighting Godrick (though you don’t have to actually summon her to progress the quest). Once Godrick has been defeated, Nepheli will then relocate to the Roundtable Hold’s library. Talk to her there and exhaust all dialogue to receive the Arsenal Charm, though you must speak with Gideon beforehand. If you defeat Godrick and don’t see Nepheli at the Hold, exhaust all of Gideon’s dialogue and then reload to have her appear.
Nepheli can then be found under the bridge leading to the Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia of the Lakes. Go to the Village and defeat Omenkiller, then go back to the Roundtable Hold. Visit the Blacksmith and you’ll see her near the stairs – interact with her and complete the quest. It’s possible to fail the quest if you rest at the Forge of Giants’ Site of Grace before defeating Omenkiller. Nepheli will disappear but you can get her Stormhawk Axes at the Village of the Albinaurics.
From this point, Nepheli will intersect with Seluvis’s quest so we’ll cover that in his section. Otherwise, you can not give her Seluvis’s Potion and instead complete Kenneth Haight’s quest. Travel to the Chapel of Anticipation to acquire the Stormhawk King (though you need to follow Roderika’s quest and unlock the ability to upgrade Spirit Ashes). Follow Kenneth Haight’s questline by finding him in Fort Haight. After exhausting all of his dialogue, go back to Godrick’s Site of Grace. Rest and then go to the Throne Room – Nepheli, Kenneth and Gostoc will be there. Exhaust her dialogue and you’ll receive an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
Kenneth Haight
Encountered in the Mistwood’s northern area. Speak to him until his dialogue is exhausted and then go to Fort Haight. Liberate it/kill everything in it and then return to him. He’ll give you the Erdsteel Dagger and offer an Accord. Accept and then meet him in Fort Haight. Upon exhausting all of his dialogue, it’s off to slay Godrick the Grafted in the Stormveil Castle dungeon. You’ll also need to be doing Nepheli Loux’s quest in the middle of this.
After Godrick is dead, give her the Stormhawk King (which is found in the Chapel of Anticipation). Speak and exhaust all of her dialogue before going back to the Site of Grace before Godrick. Venture into the Throne Room and you’ll see Kenneth, Gatekeeper Gostoc and Nepheli there. Make sure that Morgott has been defeated, otherwise Kenneth won’t appear here.
Iron Fist Alexander
Alexander is a quirky ally that will help you out in key points. Before getting to all of that, you have to first find and help him. Go to Northern Stormhill and give him a few heavy strikes to set him free. Afterwards, he’ll be in the Gael Tunnel so make sure to speak to him. Next, he’ll be in Redmane Castle, prepping for the Radahn Festival. During the battle with Starscourge Radahn, Alexander can be summoned along with many others to help so take advantage of this.
After Radahn has been defeated, Alexander will take up residence at the Site of Grace near the former’s battlefield. You can then find him stuck again south of the Carian Study Hall. Once again, heavy strikes will set him free. Next, Alexander can be found in Seethewater Terminus just behind the Magma Wyrm boss. He’s bathing in lava because…reasons (it’s for training but still) and can be conversed with.
Once you’ve reached the Mountaintops of the Giants, Alexander can be summoned to fight the Fire Giant, though this isn’t mandatory. The final encounter with him is in Crumbling Farum Azula. He’ll challenge you to a fight and upon defeat, drops the Shard of Alexander and Warrior Jar Shard. Not the worst way to go but we’ll still miss good ol’ Pot Boy.
Blaidd
Blaidd’s presence will first be felt in the Mistwood – when you enter, there will be a howling. Before slaying the nearest wolf, go back to Merchant Kale and ask about it. You’ll receive the “Finger Snap” Gesture for summoning Blaidd. Go back to the Mistwood, and after the howling, use it to talk to Blaidd.
He’ll tell you about a man that he’s looking for called “Darriwil”. The latter can be found in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol – go there and Blaidd will appear as a summon. Defeat Darriwil and you’ll receive Somber Smithing Stone (2) after speaking to Blaidd afterwards. Keep talking to him until he mentions Iji.
Now go find Iji and tell them you were sent by Blaidd. This will unlock the Carian Filigreed Crest for purchasing. Blaidd will now become intertwined in the Ranni quest where she tells you to meet him at Siofra River. Do this and speak to him until his dialogue is exhausted (and he’ll tell you about receiving a new job). Go back to the Mistwood and there will be a message – speak to Iji and then travel to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol to save Blaidd. Once this is done, go back to Iji and speak with him.
Once Ranni’s quest is finished, Blaidd will be at Ranni’s Rise. Unfortunately, he’s your enemy so you’ll have to kill him. On the positive side, you get his armor (minus the helm) and weapon upon slaying him. His helm can be found
Fia
Fia is the Deathbed Maiden of Roundtable Hold. Hugging her will give you Baldachin’s Blessing and reduce your max HP by 5 percent (using the Blessing requires FP but will increase Poise while also providing 35 percent physical damage resistance for 15 seconds). Once you’ve defeated Godrick in Stormveil Castle, speak to her and accept her offer to hold you. This will start the quest and involve the Black Knifeprint, which can be obtained from the Black Knife Catacombs.
Once you’ve obtained it, go back to the Roundtable Hold and give it to Sorcerer Rogier. Speak to Fia and then reload the area and speak to Rogier. You’ll now have to go to Altus Plateau which must be done by activating the Grand Lift of Dectus. Fia will give you a dagger when this is done – it can be given to D in the Roundtable Hold to open a new area near the blacksmith upon reloading. Speak to Fia again until her dialogue is exhausted.
You’ll want to undertake Ranni’s quest now to obtain the Cursemark of Death. Once this is done, head to the Deeproot Depths. You’ll want to reach the Prince of Death’s Throne’s Site of Grace and speak to Fia. She’ll ask if you’re looking to kill her so ask for a hug instead. Give Fia the Cursemark of Death, exhaust all of her dialogue and then reload the area. You can now venture into her dream and battle Lichdragon Fortissax. It’s no pushover, inflicting lightning damage while also building up the Death status so be prepared.
Upon slaying it, return to Fia’s location. You can pick up the Mending Rune of The Death-Prince along with Fia’s Hood and Fia’s Robe. And yes, she is dead.
Sorceress Sellen
In the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave, you’ll encounter Sellen for the first time. She’ll offer to teach you – accept this and exhaust all of her dialogue. Come back later and she’ll tell you to find a Sorcerer along with providing a key. Go to Sellia Hideaway and use the key on the Warded Door of the second pit to access the Sorcerer.
Next, you’ll have to defeat Starscourge Radahn. Once this is done, go back and speak to her again, exhausting all of her dialogue. You must then travel to Redmane Castle, specifically the Throne Room, and speak to Witch-Hunter Jerren. Now it’s off to Hermit Village to find Primeval Sorcerer Azur. After interacting with him, go to the Witchbane Ruins and speak to Sellen to receive the Primevil Glintstone.
Come back to the Witchbane Ruins again to see Jerren there. Speak to him until he talks about shifting Sellen into a new body. You must then go to the Three Sisters, specifically to the ruins northeast of Ranni’s Rise. Hit the center until an illusory floor is revealed. Venture inside and look for Seluvis’ message on the floor. Hit the wall on the left to reveal another illusory wall.
There will be a Sellen puppet inside – give the Primevil Glintstone to it and then go to Raya Lucaria Grand Library’s Site of Grace. There will be two summon signs – one white and the other red – which can be used to summon either Sellen and Jerren respectively. Choosing to summon Selen will see the two of you battling to kill Jerren. This awards Jerren’s armor along with the Glintstone Kris and Shard Spiral for Sellen’s shop. If you exhaust all of her dialogue after the battle and then reload the area, Sellen will turn into an Arcane Sphere of Faces. The Witch’s Glintstone Crown can be found near the Site of Grace.
Help Jerren instead and you’ll have to kill Sellen. This will award the Witch’s Glintstone Crown and Sellen’s Bell Bearing. Reload the area and speak to Jerren to also receive an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
Gowry
Gowry can be found, simply enough, in Gowry’s Shack. He’ll task you with finding an Unalloyed Gold Needle. Travel to the Swamp of Aeonia and defeat Commander O’Neil to receive the same. Return to Gowry and speak until his dialogue is exhausted and reload the area. The next step is to speak to Millicent in the Church of the Plague. Give her the Unalloyed Gold Needle, then exhausted all of her lines.
Go back to Gowry’s Shack and this time, you’ll meet Millicent there. Speak until her dialogue is exhausted, then reload the area. Gowry will return and you’ll have two choices. You can confront him about his real form, after which you should be able to buy Insect Needles. If you complete Millicent’s quest, you can kill Gowry and retrieve his Bell-Bearing, then give it to the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold to purchase his goods.
Brother Corhyn
Located in the Roundtable Hold, Brother Corhyn must first be spoken to. Do this until his dialogue is exhausted. If you’ve already reached Altus Plateau or killed Mad Tongue Alberich and received the Ciphere Pata, Corhyn will talk about venturing out to locate Goldmask. Reload the area and then go to the Altus Highway Junction’s Site of Grace. He’ll be a bit north – speak to him and exhaust his dialogue. Next, look for a broken bridge in the northern side of the region – you’ll find Goldmask. Speak to him and then go back to Brother Corhyn.
Exhaust all of his dialogue and then tell him you located Goldmask. Upon reloading the area and going back to the same bridge, you’ll spot Corhyn and Goldmask together. Exhaust all of Corhyn’s dialogue and defeat Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade). Corhyn will now be present at the Leyndell colosseum. Speak to him until his dialogue is exhausted and pick up the “Law of Regression” Incantation.
From the Erdtree Sanctuary’s Site of Grace, you’ll want to travel west. Eventually, a statue will appear with a white message that says “Regression.” Use the Law of Regression and read the new message. Go back to Corhyn and then he and Goldmask will relocate south of the Stargazers Ruins to a new bridge. Speak with him and exhaust his dialogue.
Now you have to kill the Fire Giant and the Beast Clergyman in Crumbling Farum Azula. Corhyn will now be present at the Capital of Ash’s Site of Grace. Go south from here, traveling below the elevator until you discover a new route. Eventually, you’ll happen across the corpse of Goldmask, who can be looted for a Mending Rune of Perfect Order. Reloading and going back to his corpse allows for looting it a second time and obtaining Goldmask’s Rags, a Gold Waistwrap and Gold Bracelets.
It’s worth noting that going through Crumbling Farum Azula before Brother Corhyn relocates south of the Stargazers Ruins will lock this quest out.
Margott has to be defeated in order for all three to be in the Throne Room. If either Kenneth or Gostoc, then you can still proceed. But in order to get Nepheli to move to the Throne Room, speaking to Gideon and talking about getting her back on her feet is necessary. If Gideon dies, then Nepheli will also die in her location at the time.
Irina and Edgar
You’ll first encounter Irina in the Weeping Peninsula near the Bridge of Sacrifice. Talk to her and receive Irina’s letter. Go to the top of Castle Morne to find Edgar, Irina’s father. Give him the letter and then defeat Leonie Misbegotten to obtain the Grafted Blade Greatsword. Show this to Edgar and then return to Irina’s original position where she is found dead.
Reload the area and you’ll find Edgar standing over her body. If you go to the Revenger’s Shack in Western Liurnia, then Edgar will be there as an invader. Slay him and you’ll receive the Banished Knight’s Halberd +8. If you reload the area, then a Shabriri Grape can be found inside the Shack.
Preceptor Seluvis
Seluvis is first encountered in ethereal form in Ranni’s Rise after you’ve spoken to Ranni. Go to Seluvis’ Rise and travel south to meet him in person. He’ll give you Seluvis’ Potion which can be given to Nephelli (which ends her quest). Alternatively, it can be given to Gideon Ofnir or the Dung Eater (when you’ve reached the point in his quest where he’s tied to a chair and can be given Seedbed Curses)
Next, travel to Ranni’s Rise and look for some ruins nearby for Seluvis’ hidden room. Upon entering inside, you’ll find a message. Speak to Seluvis and purchase some Sorceries along with one Puppet Ash. Once you’ve obtained the Amber Starlight on Altus Plateau, give it to Seluvis (who will reward you with a Magic Scorpion Charm), then give the Amber Daught to Ranni. It won’t work though and upon awakening, she’ll lose trust in you (thus ending her questline) and kill you and Seluvis. Ranni and Iji will then be gone from the area while Seluvis’ corpse can be found in his tower.
It’s possible to earn Ranni’s trust again by using the Celestial Dew in the Church of Vows which will resume the quest. Seluvis can also die after delivering the Fingerslayer Blade to Ranni so try to finish his quest before then.
Knight Bernahl
First found in the Warmaster’s Shack in Stormhill, Bernahl will relocate to Volcano Manor once you join them. After assassinating two targets, you must speak to Bernahl to receive the Letter to Bernahl which tasks you with Vagram the Raging Wolf and Errant Sorcerer Wilhelm, both located in Leyndell, Royal Capital. You’ll receive the Sorcery “Gelmir’s Fury” as a reward upon returning to Bernahl.
After Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy has been defeated, speak to Bernahl and exhaust his dialogue. He’ll next appear in Crumbling Farum Azula as an invader after traveling past the Beside the Great Bridge’s Site of Grace. Killing him drops the Beast Champion Set, Devourer’s Scepter and Blasphemous Claw.
If you defeat Rykard before completing the Letter to Bernahl assassinations, then you’ll be locked out of the quest. If you clear Crumbling Farum Azula before speaking to Bernahl and receiving the letter, then the entire request from the letter is skipped. Finally, after completing the entire quest, you can still go back to his seat in Volcano Manor and interact with Bernahl’s sword to learn skills until he’s slain in Crumbling Farum Azula.
Patches
Patches is a classic entity in the Souls series, going all the way back to Demon’s Souls. He appears in Elden Ring as well and won’t hesitate to fight. Find him in Murkwater Cave by opening the chest at the end and proceed to wallop him until he surrenders. While you could kill him and obtain his Bell-Bearing for certain items, Patches must be forgiven for his quest to play out.
Once forgiven, he’ll open a shop in Murkwater Cave. Exhaust all dialogue and then open up the chest nearby. This will take you to the Mistwood Ruins. Travel back to the cave and talk to Patches again. Next time you find Patches, it will be on the Scenic Isle in Liurnia of the Lakes, near the Laskyar Ruins’ Site of Grace.
From here, you can take Patches’ advice and go to the Virgin Abductor in the Raya Lucaria Academy Dungeon for transportation. It’s located at the waterwheel’s base and will actually take you to the Volcano Manor instead of the Erdtree. You can have Patches move to his next location after going to Mt. Gelmir. He’ll be hiding on a cliff near the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite’s Site of Grace – speaking to him reveals that he’s doing nothing suspicious. If you read the message and follow the trail of Rainbow Stones, then Patches will push you off the cliff in a cutscene.
Patches’ quest eventually intertwines with the Volcano Manor NPCs. After completing one assassination quest for Tanith, speak to every individual in the Manor and receive their requests. Reload the area and then speak to Patches who will give you a Letter to Patches. Next, go to the Ruin-Strewn Precipice and look for an invasion sign. Use it and then kill the enemy to get the Bull-Goat Armor Set. Upon reloading, speak to Tanith and then to Patches who will give you the Magma Whip Candlestick.
Next, Patches can be found in the Shaded Castle where he’ll provide the Dancer’s Castanets. These can be given to Tanith. Go back to Murkwater Cave and he’ll be a boss but surrender quickly. This allows for learning the “Patches’ Crouch” Gesture. Accept his surrender and reload the area to visit his shop.
Killing Patches in Murkwater Cave upon first meeting him will end the questline. If you kill Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, then he’ll leave Volcano Manor. Also be careful when meeting him in the Shaded Castle as one hit will kill him and while you’ll receive his items, you won’t get the Patches’ Crouch or be able to access his shop in Murkwater Cave later.
Rya
Rya can be found in Liurnia of the Lakes near the Birdeye Telescope (located just north of the Laskyar Ruins) and tasks you with retrieving a stolen necklace. Travel north-west until you arrive at the Boilprawn Shack. Blackguard Big Boggart is the culprit and though you could kill him to get it back, his questline can’t be completed later. So instead, buy it off of him for 1,000 Runes.
Give the necklace to Rya and she’ll provide an invitation to the Volcano Manor. Rya can be found next at the Lux Ruins in Altus Plateau if you haven’t obtained the complete Dectus Medallion or at the Grand Lift of Dectus at the top. If you speak to her, she’ll teleport you to Volcano Manor.
Upon assassinating the Old Knight Istvan for Tanith, Rya (whose real name is Zorayas) will move to a new room and now appear as a snake. Speak to her during this to progress the quest. If you’ve completed all of the contracts and get teleported to Rykard, then you can’t complete the optional objectives in Rya’s questline. Complete the assassination of Rileigh the Idle for Tanith and visit Rya again.
She’ll complain about sounds in the nearby room – investigate and you’ll find an Illusory Wall. Upon reaching the Prison Town Church’s Site of Grace and opening the doors, go to Rya/Zorayas and provide an update. You can then speak to Tanith and select the option “Zorayas’ Troubles.” Go to the Temple of Eighlay and defeat the Godskin Noble to obtain the Serpent’s Amnion. This can be given to Rya/Zorayas, resulting in her leaving the manor.
You then have the option to speak to Tanith. Select “Zorayas’ absence” and you’ll receive the Tonic of Forgetfulness. Go to the Legacy Dungeon and look for a room adjacent to a laval pit that has cages and skulls. Rya/Zorayas will be there and you have three options. Kill her and she’ll transform into a snake again, dropping Daedicar’s Woe in the process. Let her live and then kill Rykard – return here for some new dialogue, then reload the area to obtain Daedicar’s Woe and Zorayas’ Letter after she leaves.
You can also give her the Tonic of Forgetfulness which will cause her to sleep. Slay Rykard and then go back to the first room you met her in the manor. After exhausting all of her dialogue and reloading the area, Daedicar’s Woe can be found in her place. Killing Rykard before you speak to Rya in the dungeon will cause her to disappear.
Dung Eater
The loathsome Dung Eater from the intro cinematic is located in the Roundtable Hold, though he’s locked inside a room near the Twin Maiden Husks. After you travel to Altus Plateau, go into the room and speak to the Dung Eater. He’ll ask for a Seedbed Curse – show it to him and you’ll receive the Sewer-Goal Key. Go to Leyndell, Royal Capital and access the sewers from the well to reach the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.
Talk to the Dung Eater there and release him from the prison. Once you go back to the Roundtable Hold, there will be a message from the Dung Eater asking you to fight him on the outer moat. Defeat him and you’ll receive the Sword of Milos. He’ll then return to the Hold and ask for more Seedbed Curses. If you go to the room behind the Twin Maiden Husks, you’ll find his real body tied up there. Give the Seedbed Curses to him.
Upon receiving five Seedbed Curses, you’ll receive the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse. Reload the area to receive the Omen Set at the same spot.
Before fighting the Dung Eater, make sure to complete Blackguard Big Boggart’s quest, otherwise you won’t receive a Seedbed Curse from the latter. You can also give Seluvis’ Potion to the Dung Eater and receive a Dung Eater Puppet summon from Seluvis. You won’t get the Blessing of Despair ending though. It’s still possible to receive the Omen Set after giving him the Potion.
Simply wait a bit and then kill him in his chair. The Omen Set will drop along with the Puppet summon being available from Seluvis.
Millicent
After speaking to Gowry in his shack, he’ll ask you to help a girl named Millicent. She’s found past Sellia and suffers from the Scarlet Rot. First, defeat Commander O’Neil in the Swamp of Aeonia to get the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Return and give it to Gowry who will provide Sellia’s Secret in return. Reload the area to receive the repaired needle from Gowry.
Go to the Church of the Plague and give it to Millicent, then rest at the Site of Grace. Exhaust her dialogue until she provides the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom. Reload the area and travel to Gowry’s Shack – he’ll be gone but Millicent will be there. Exhaust her dialogue again, reload the area and this time, Gowry will be back while Millicent has moved.
You can next find her north-east of the Erdtree-Gazing Hill’s Site of Grace. She’ll be on the edge of the cliff of Altus Plateau. Exhaust her dialogue, then travel to The Shaded Castle and get the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis. It’s on the north-east edge in a room guarded by a Cleanrot Knight. Once obtained, return and give it to Millicent, then exhaust her dialogue.
Next, travel to Dominula, Windmill Village and slay the Godskin Apostle. Upon reloading the area, she’ll be close to the Windmill Heights’ Site of Grace. Exhaust her dialogue and she’ll next be found at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins’ Site of Grace at Mountaintops of the Giants. It’s worth noting that if you’re having trouble with the Black Blade Kindred boss in the Forbidden Lands, then Millicent can be summoned to help.
Upon meeting her in the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins, exhaust her dialogue. She’ll then move to the Prayer Room’s Site of Grace at Elphael Brace of the Haligtree. You need to defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit first, who can be reached by traveling west from the Drainage Channel’s Site of Grace, going up the ladder and then through the door. Two summon signs will spawn upon defeating it.
You can either be summoned into Millicent’s world and help her fight off Millicent’s Sisters, who are NPC invaders (which provides the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia), or be summoned to fight Millicent (which provides Millicent’s Prosthesis). If you help Millicent, then she’ll be found near the summon sign. Exhaust her dialogue, reload the area and you’ll receive the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
You can use the Unalloyed Gold Needle in Malenia’s arena on the flower to receive Miquella’s Needle and Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. If you use Miquella’s Needle in Dragonlord Placidusax’s location, then the Flame of Frenzy will be removed, thus ensuring the opportunity to opt for a different ending.
If you go back to Sage Gowry, you’ll learn more about Malenia and Millicent (though you can no longer purchase from him). Killing the Sage will result in the Flock’s Canvas Talisman and Gowry’s Bell-Bearing dropping.
Blackguard Big Boggart
You’ll remember Blackguard Big Boggart as the one who steals a necklace from Rya. If you don’t kill him, then he’ll tell you that something is off about Rya. Speak to Rya and purchase the necklace from him for 1,000 Runes. You can also purchase Boiled Prawns which will start his questline.
After purchasing the same, he’ll move to Leyndell near the Capital Rampart (in the outer moat). He’ll offer a warning about the Dung Eater. If you’ve progressed Dung Eater’s quest to the point where he’s waiting in the outer moat, then Boggart will comment about him being close by. Reloading the area will see Boggart being injured. Interact with him and an invader will spawn.
Defeat them and interact with Boggart’s body again to receive a Seedbed Curse and other items. Keep in mind that fighting the Dung Eater in the outer moat before doing Boggart’s quest will ensure that no Seedbed Curse is obtained. If you don’t buy the necklace from Boggart before progressing the Dung Eater’s quest up till receiving the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, then the former will have been killed by the latter.
Latenna
Located in the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack, Latenna’s quest involves another NPC, Albus. You can find Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics in the west of Liurnia of the Lakes. Following the path from the Village’s Site of Grace will lead you to Albus who’s disguised as a pot. Look for the Perfumer enemy and hit the pot past it – Albus will then make his presence. Speak to Albus twice to obtain the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right).
Go back to Latenna and give her the Medallion, then promise to bring her to the Haligtree. She’ll turn into a Spirit Ash summon and provide a clue about the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left). When traveling to the Apostate Derelict, stand in front of the large Albinauric and summon Latenna. You’ll receive a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
Be careful not to progress too far into the game, otherwise Latenna will die. You’ll still obtain her Spirit Ashes though.
Ensha of the Royal Remains
Located in the Roundtable Hold just outside of Gideon’s room, Ensha won’t say anything about interaction. However, doing so will net the “What Do You Want?” Gesture. After receiving the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right), going back to the Roundtable Hold will see Ensha attacking the player as an Invader. Defeat him and you’ll receive the Royal Remains Set (which is essentially his edgelord armor).
Sorcerer Rogier
You’ll meet up with Rogier in Stormveil Castle inside the Chapel. Once Godrick has been defeated, he moves to the Roundtable Hold. Keep in mind that speaking Ranni before finishing Rogier’s quest will result in him dying.
Once you’ve spoken to Rogier in the Hold, return to Stormveil Castle and defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit underground. There will be a rotted face nearby with a bloodstain on it – interact with the same. Go back to the Hold and ask Rogier about it. You then have the option to talk to Fia – when she holds you, choose “Talk in Secret” then “Did you know?” and “About the Black Knifeprint.” You’ll then have the Black Knight Catacombs on your map.
Go there and defeat the Black Knight Assassin. At the upper level, you’ll find the Black Knifeprint. Return to Rogier and give it to him. Reloading the area sees him asking you to find Ranni. Meet with Ranni and she’ll tell you to go away. Speak with Rogier again, then speak with Ranni and enter her service.
Speak to Rogier again and he’ll talk about entering a “deep slumber”. If you reload the area, he’ll be asleep and you can obtain his armor set, Bell Bearing and a letter (which reveals the location of D’s brother).
Diallos Hoslow
Diallos can be found in the Roundtable Hold – speak and exhaust all of his dialogue while there. You’ll next find him north-west of the Academy Gate Town’s Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. Go back to the Roundtable Hold and speak to him again. You’ll next meet him at Volcano Manor upon joining them. Make sure you don’t finish the questline for the Manor (which ends in Rykard being killed) or else this questline will end. Talk to him in the drawing room of the Manor and exhaust all dialogue. You can now finish the Manor’s questline and kill Rykard.
Diallos will then intertwine with the Jar-Bairn’s questline. Once that’s done, Diallos will appear in Jarburg in a shack. Exhaust all dialogue for both him and Jar-Bairn, then reload the area. Diallos will be injured – speak with him and exhaust his dialogue, then do the same for Jar-Bairn. Upon reloading the area, Diallos will be gone, leaving Diallos’s Mask, Hoslow’s Petal Whip, and Numen’s Rune at the location of his body.
Tanith
Upon traveling to Volcano Manor, you’ll meet Tanith. Upon exhausting her dialogue, you’ll receive the Drawing-Room Key. Go to Rya’s room and obtain the letter, then return to Tanith. She’ll ask you to kill Old Knight Istvan. Go to Stormhill and interact with the summon sign to invade and slay him. Return to Tanith and you’ll receive the Sorcery “Magma Shot.”
Upon reloading the area, another letter will be found for assassinating Rileigh the Idle in Altus Plateau. You’ll have to travel north-east of Old Altus Tunnel and then invade his world using the summon sign. Once he’s dead, go back to Tanith and she’ll give you the Serpentbone Blade.
Reload the area once more and speak to Tanith – this time, she’ll teleport you to the entrance of Rykard. Once this is done, go back and speak with Tanith. If you reload the area and go back to the same area where you fought Rykard, Tanith will be present, eating his corpse. If you fight and kill Tanith, you’ll receive the Consort’s Set.
Afterwards, Tanith’s bodyguard will invade you. Kill them to receive the Incantation “Aspect of the Crucible: Breath.”
Jar-Bairn
Venturing to Jarburg sees you meeting with Jar-Bairn. Speak with him and reload the area until all of his dialogue is exhausted. You must then play through Diallos’ quest until he moves to Jarburg. After speaking to him and Jar-Bairn, reload the area and you’ll find Diallos injured. Speak to him and Jar-Bairn, after which Diallos will die.
You must now complete Iron Fist Alexander’s quest. Once this is done, go back to Jarburg and give Alexander’s Innards to Jar-Bairn. Reload the area and go back to Jar-Bairn’s location to find a Companion Jar talisman at his location.
Bloody Finger Hunter Yura
You’ll first meet Yura under an overpass near Agheel Lake. He’ll warn you of the dragon present at the lake and talk about his mission to hunt down Bloody Fingers. If you venture towards Murkwater Cave, then Bloody Finger Nerijus will invade you. Yura appears to help out and upon defeating Nerijus, the former can be north of Murkwater Cave. If Yura dies, then the overall questline becomes locked off so beware.
Before tackling the invader, it’s possible to fight the dragon Agheel and then speak to Yura, they’ll tell you about the Church of the Dragon Communion’s location.
Yura’s next location is Raya Lucaria. From the Main Gate’s Site of Grace, travel north until you reach a bridge. Use the red summon sign on the ground and you’ll be tasked with helping Yura defeat Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin. Talk to him afterwards at the summon sign until his dialogue is exhausted.
Next, you’ll want to travel to the Second Church of Marika. Speaking to him will reward the Nagakiba and also see Bloody Finger Eleonora invading. Defeat her for a Purifying Crystal Tear, Eleonora’s Poleblade, and a Furlcalling Finger Remedy. You can then find Yura at the Zamor Ruins’ Site of Grace but his body is now under possession of Shabriri, who will ask you to pursue the Frenzied Flame. Upon fighting and killing Shabriri, you’ll receive Ronin’s Set, though it can also drop in the same location if you accept the Frenzied Flame from the Three Fingers.
Note that it’s possible to still receive all of the above items even if you don’t do Yura’s questline prior to Shabriri possessing them. Eleonora will still be found at the Second Church of Marika while the Nagakiba can be found in the last location that the player spoke to Yura (which includes a camp located north-east of the Seaside Ruins’ Site of Grace).
Gurranq, Beast Clergyman
As part of D’s quest, you can meet Gurranq in the Bestial Sanctum and give him Deathroot for Bestial items. It’s worth noting that on the fourth time you give him Deathroot, a fight will break out. Simply reduce his HP (don’t kill him) and you can continue giving Deathroot for a maximum of nine times. The final reward he’ll give you is an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
Thops
Go to the Church of Irith in Liurnia of the Lakes. You’ll meet Thops there and he’ll request the Academy Glintstone Key. Travel to Raya Lucaria Academy and obtain the key from there. Give it to Thops (who will teach the Gesture “Erudition) and upon reloading the game, he’ll have disappeared, leaving behind a Teardrop Scarab that allows for obtaining the Ash of War: Thops’s Barrier. You can later find his corpse at the Schoolhouse Classroom Site of Grace and obtain items like Thops’ Bell-Bearing, Thops Barrier and the Academy Glintstone Staff.
Ranni the Witch
This is one of the longest Side Quests in the game and will change the ending received along with affecting a number of different NPCs so be prepared.
To initiate it, first speak to Ranni. You’ll meet her at the Church of Elleh at nighttime once you receive the Spectral Steed Whistle from Melina. She’ll bestow the Summoning Ash Bell and then disappear. You can find her next in Ranni’s Rise, where she’ll ask if you’ll serve her. Agree (though you may need the Black Knifeprint) and then speak to Blaidd, Seluvis and Iji. You can then speak to Ranni again.
After this, go to Siofra River and speak to Blaidd. You’ll then have to talk to Seluvis to obtain Seluvis’s Introduction – this must be given to Sellen in the Waypoint Ruins. Next up, you’ll have to defeat Starscourge Radahn. Once this is done, go to the Mistwood and investigate the field to the south – there will be a crater then you can drop down into. Use this to venture to Nokron. Once you reach the Night’s Sacred Ground, obtain the Fingerslayer Blade.
Go back to Ranni’s location and give her the Fingerslayer Blade to receive the Carian Inverted Statue. Travel to Carian Study Hall and use it to ascend the Divine Tower of Liurnia. You’ll find a corpse with the Cursemark of Death. This is where things start to get a little weird.
Ventrue to Ainsel River Main and you’ll obtain Miniature Ranni. Upon resting at the nearby Site of Grace, you can speak to Ranni again (via the Mini version). The next task is to take down the Baleful Shadow – they can be found in Nokstella. You’ll obtain the Discarded Palace Key upon defeating them, which can be used to unlock a chest in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library. Defeating Rennala is necessary for accessing it though.
Upon opening the chest, you’ll receive the Dark Moon Ring. Now go back to the Lake of Rot and travel to the Grand Cloister. Access the coffin in the area and you’ll be transported to the location of Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. Defeat them and then venture on to the Moonlight Altar (Glintstone Dragon Adula is also here so be careful). Go inside the Cathedral of Manus Celes and use the ring on Mini Ranni – this will bring the normal Ranni back to life and bestow the Dark Moon Greatsword.
It’s worth noting that receiving the Age of Stars ending and then returning to Ranni’s Chamber provides more dialogue with Mini Ranni. This quest affects characters like Iji, Blaidd, Selvius and Sorcerer Rogier to keep that in mind.
