Exodus Cinematic Trailer Reveals the Terrifying Mara-Yama

These Giger-esque Celestials crave twisted memories, capturing lone targets and subjecting them to immense psychological torture.

Archetype Entertainment continues to peel back the layers surrounding its upcoming triple-A sci-fi RPG Exodus. Its latest cinematic trailer revealed the Mara-Yama, Celestials that feed on fear. Check out their modus operandi below, narrated by the mysterious C. C. Orlev.

The Mara-Yama don’t have a homeworld and instead venture through space in overwhelmingly large (and somewhat grotesque) citadels. Upon spotting any isolated targets in space, they proceed to capture them for their memories, favoring the “more twisted and tortured.” The process involves “intense” psychological torture, and escape is unlikely.

Those who escape are left with an understandable aversion to space. However, the Mara-Yama are only one of the many threats the Traveler must face (or avoid) in their journey to procure Celestial weapons and technology to ensure humanity’s survival.

Exodus doesn’t have a release date, but it’s in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Head here for some details on the different planets or learn more about the diverse cast you’ll interact with.
