Burnout and V.A.T.S.

Perhaps the biggest addition to the Fallout series since Bethesda picked up the IP – besides the first person perspective – is V.A.T.S. The Vault-Tec Assisted Targetting System allows players to target specific body parts with varying degrees of success. While shooting body parts was also a part of Fallout 1 and 2, V.AT.S. in Fallout 3 was inspired by Burnout’s Crash mode, which would explain the exaggerated slow motion and over-the-top violence.
