Final Fantasy 14 Shadowbringers

Square Enix announced last year that Final Fantasy 14 would finally be coming to Xbox Series X/S sometime this Spring, and though an exact release date for the MMORPG hasn’t yet been confirmed, an open beta has been announced and dated- and it’s not too far away.

Final Fantasy 14’x Xbox Series X/S version will get an open beta later this month, on February 21. It will include all the content that is included in the game’s free trial version- which is the base experience (i.e. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn), and its first two expansions, Heavensward and Stormbringers. That’s literally hundreds of hours of content. However, players won’t be able to make optional online store purchases.

If you’re an existing Final Fantasy 14 player on a different platform, you won’t be able to jump into the beta, which is reserved only for new players. The beta will also require you to link your Microsoft and Square Enix accounts. Those who want to link their existing account and play on Xbox will have to wait until the game’s full release.

And when exactly is the full release? Square Enix says Final Fantasy 14 will launch in full for Xbox Series X/S “immediately following the conclusion of the open beta test”. That end date, however, hasn’t yet been determined, and will only be decided “after thorough reviews” based on the beta. All of your progress and data from the beta will transfer to the full game, and you won’t be required to download the game again.

Meanwhile, Square Enix has also confirmed that the full version of the game won’t be playable without a Game Pass subscription.
