Okay, look, skepticism is all well and good, particularly when you have a track record like Square Enix’s has been over the last decade or so, but I still cannot help but become ridiculously excited every time I see or hear more of Final Fantasy XV. For some reason, I get the feeling that this will be the game that finally restores the series back to its former prestige, and with it now being so close and so tangible- we’re going to get our first hands on with it later this year when the first playable demo launches alongside Final Fantasy Type 0 HD- the excitement is real. It’s palpable. Final Fantasy XV is no longer an abstraction, it exists.
These new screenshots aren’t helping with that kind of excitement. They just look really great, like a modern realization of classic Final Fantasy. I want this game, and I want it now, even if it isn’t even my most anticipated JRPG this year.
