In the pre-launch celebration livestream for Final Fantasy 16, producer Naoki Yoshida announced that the PS5 demo would be available on June 12th. It goes live at 1 AM PDT/4 AM EDT, though you may not be able to download it the exact moment the download goes live. Yoshida said it might take some time to roll out, roughly a few minutes, so wait, and the demo should be available.
As for what to expect, it includes over two hours of gameplay from the Prologue. Save data carries over to the main game, and it’s a little heavy on cutscenes since it’s introducing the world, Clive’s story and more. However, clearing the Prologue unlocks a battle demo, which doesn’t carry over to the main game.
This demo gives a better idea of Clive’s combat prowess and Eikonic abilities, which are available in his adult years and is repeatable. It also includes Timely Accessories. It takes place in one of the darkest areas, which isn’t representative of the full game, so don’t worry.
Final Fantasy 16 launches on June 22nd worldwide for PS5 and won’t have a day-one patch. Check out the latest gameplay here.
