It’s been nearly a year since a PC version of Final Fantasy 16 was officially confirmed to be in development, and though we’re still waiting on word from Square Enix on when the action game will finally release for the platform, it seems like news could be arriving soon.
Spotted by a user on Reddit (shared by @Wario64 on Twitter), Nvidia’s recently released Game Ready & Studio Driver 560.81 includes a reference to Final Fantasy 16. More specifically, though it’s not mentioned in the official release notes for the driver, it includes a game ready driver profile for a PC version of Final Fantasy 16.
That could potentially indicate that a PC version of the action title is closer to release than the current lack of official communication from Square Enix would suggest.
In March, producer Naoki Yoshida said that the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 was in the “final stages of optimization”, and the the plan was to release demo for players on the platform ahead of a full release. Whenever it does launch, Final Fantasy 16 will have both of its expansions – Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide – available on the platform.
Following its PC release, Final Fantasy 16 may also make its way to Xbox Series X/S, judging by prior comments by its developers.
