Final Fantasy 16 Producer Addresses Reports of PC Version

"Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing," says Naoki Yoshida before adding, "don't worry about that, buy a PS5!"

Final Fantasy 16 is one of the most anticipated PS5 titles this year. Releasing on June 22nd, it’s the next mainline title in the series, and there’s considerable hype given that Final Fantasy 14’s Naoki Yoshida is involved as a producer. However, despite all marketing indicating its exclusivity on PS5, there have been several indicators (and rumors) of it coming to PC.

Most recently, a PlayStation commercial in November 2022 indicated that the action RPG is exclusive to the console for six months. Yoshida didn’t address the commercial in question, but he did address all the talk about a PC version on Japanese streaming site Niconico (translation by Genki_JPN on Twitter).

“Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like a PC version is releasing 6 months later? Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5! (laughs) Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best, so please look forward to it.”

It’s an unenviable position, especially since the first reveal trailer for Final Fantasy 16 indicated that it was coming to PS5 and PC (before being pulled and re-uploaded). There’s also the video by PlayStation Brasil from March 2021, which indicated that it is exclusive to the console for “limited time.” As always, we’ll have to wait for more details, so stay tuned.
