Final Fantasy 7 Remake, released in 2020 to extensive commercial and critical success, isn’t the first title that comes to mind when you think of Square Enix’s biggest titles this year. Nevertheless, it marks the debut of the remake (complete with Intergrade content) on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S when it launches in Q4 2025. The question is: When can we expect its sequel, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, to follow suit?

According to reliable insider NateTheHate2 on Reddit, it allegedly releases for both platforms next year. He also reports that with “some well-utilized DLSS,” Square Enix can make the experience possible on Switch 2. Of course, that remains to be seen, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, creative director Tetsuya Nomura provided an update on the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. It’s “going very smoothly”, and the development team has already decided on an announcement schedule. Series producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed earlier this year that the story is complete and that “fans will be satisfied with the final chapter.”
