Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Despite how coy Square Enix has been on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, it has confirmed several details in the past year, from fewer mini-games than Rebirth to its multiplatform release. It’s yet to reveal the title, but we may not have to wait too long, as director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the “core game experience” is “almost complete.”

Joined by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 director Guillaume Broche in an interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze (translation by The Gamer), Hamaguchi said, “At this point, the core game experience is almost complete, and we’re now in the phase of refining and polishing it.”

While he feels a “very strong sense of the game’s final form” as its director and wants players to get their hands on it “as soon as possible,” there are other considerations. “Of course, since it’s a game, it needs to be carefully crafted before it can be delivered to players.

“Once we go through this phase properly, we’ll be able to present it in a form we’re satisfied with. So I ask everyone to wait just a little longer, and we’ll be able to share more information soon.”

“Soon” could range from The Game Awards on December 11th to sometime in the next six months, depending on your definition. However, creative director Tetsuya Nomura revealed last September that the announcement timing has already been decided, and that the team is sticking to “that schedule.” Again, anyone’s guess as to when that could be, but things are very much on track.

When it launches, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 or whatever it ends up called, will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. In the meantime, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will launch for Switch 2 and Xbox on January 22nd, 2026, followed by Rebirth sometime later.
