Final Fantasy 7 was, I imagine, a lot of people’s first Final Fantasy. That coupled with the marketing, plus the timing of its release as gaming was beginning to explode into the mainstream, makes the game strong nostalgia bait. A multi-episode remake of the title is set to come out later this year, and the continued anticipation of it is pretty incredible. Now we got the characters that many have come to know and love highlighted in a neat new piece of art.

Square Enix released two key visuals of five of the series main characters. Four party members are missing here: Yuffie, Vincent, Cid and Cait Sith, meaning that this episode probably won’t feature them in playable forms. Those characters were obtained after leaving Midgar, and everything we’ve seen so far seems to point to the first part only covering that part of the story.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release exclusively for PlayStation 4 on April 10th. The game’s exclusive window was also pushed back to April of 2021, as opposed to March, which you can read more about here.
