First Kingdoms of Amalur story DLC on it’s way

EA has announced that the first story DLC for their recently released Big Huge Games developed RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, will be releasing on March 20.

The DLC, titled The Legend of Dead Kel, tell “a mysterious tale of intrigue, danger and dark magic on the island of Gallows End”. Features include three new Twists of Fate, eight additional armour sets, eight extra shields, 18 new weapons, new sidequests, enemies and a new dungeon type called Dverga Fastings.

Gravehal Keep, a huge area “with multiple buildings and a full retinue of retainers, each with their own back stories, side quests, perks and quirks” will also be accessible to all players.

The DLC will increase the area of land in the game by 15%. A price hasn’t been announced yet, though.

Kingdoms of Amalur was released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC earlier last month and it was met with decent reviews. However, we were disappointed with it. Our 6.5/10 review calls Amalur “a game of contradictions”, praising the game for it’s “awesome combat, a deep levelling system and an excellent art style”, but criticizing it for having a “lifeless and generic game world”.

Our review gives the following final verdict: “While ultimately disappointing and generic, Reckoning is a fun and deeply engaging game with one of the best combat systems around.” You can read the full review through the link above.
