Foamstars - Coiff Guy

All eyes are on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth next week with the next State of Play. However, that’s also the same day that Foamstars, its 4v4 party shooter, launches for PS4 and PS5. A new trailer was showcased, announcing Season 1: Starry Pop, which goes live on the same day as the game and adds new content like Ranked Matches.

On the PlayStation Blog, producer Kosuke Okatani revealed that Ranked Party has solo and team options, with players competing to rank up in seven tiers – Bronze Star, Silver Star, Gold Star, Platinum Star, Diamond Star, Superstar, and Party Legend.

Each season will also have limited-time events on two weekends with different rulesets. Season 1 features Mirror Madness, where all players are the character Mel T, and Invisible Showdowns, which renders everyone invisible.

Another unique feature is Happy Friyay Party, available twice a month on the weekends and allowing players to try out the next Foamstar (in this case, Coiff Guy). A Season Pass with free and Premium Tiers is also confirmed, and there will be seasonal skins to purchase, though players can also unlock free skins.

Foamstars launches on February 6th and will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
