11 bit studios’ Frostpunk 2 has been delayed from July 25th to September 20th on PC. However, the development team is using the additional time to act on feedback from the beta and add new features. These include gameplay improvements, like “more detailed and flexible workforce management” and more direct-use abilities for reacting to pressing issues.

Players can also reshape districts post-construction, deal with protests in a “more thorough” and “complex” way, and utilize a new resource that will stabilize the economy (while making building and expansion “more strategic”). The UI is also getting some changes, including a “clearer” and “more intuitive” HUD, a construction menu with five new city Hubs, and improved readability in the Idea Tree and Frostland.

Perhaps the most intriguing new addition is Zoom Stories, allowing players to delve into their citizens’ stories. Essentially, you can “zoom in to specific city parts that allow you to watch the day-to-day life of your citizens.”

While there’s more work to be done, 11 bit studios has held tests for its new features, and it’s happy with the results. It will share more behind-the-scenes details leading up to release “so you can see how these additions are coming to life.” Stay tuned for further updates in the meantime.
