Although GameStop stopped accepting trade ins for Sony’s iconic PlayStation 2 console, game, and accessories in June last year (with many taking that to signal the official end of the system’s life), it looks like this console is still not done just yet. GameStop has announced that it will be resuming accepting trade ins for the system due to high demand.

“The video game console that had captured millions of hearts around the world continues to breathe life,” GameStop said in a statement. “The Sony PlayStation 2 is known for its vast library of games and being the top selling video game console of all-time. GameStop knows that a demand for this iconic piece of video game history is still high and will once again buy back PS2 consoles.”

With over 156 million units sold worldwide, the PlayStation 2 remains the highest selling console in history, and the last epoch where one console established an almost total monopoly over the market.
