Best PlayStation Vita Title

The PlayStation Vita represents a very interesting quandary in today’s industry. It hasn’t beaten the 3DS XL in sales even once all year, yet still maintained a strong presence. From featuring several high profile releases to being the PS4’s support tool and finally a handheld indie gaming platform, the Vita has gone through many identity shifts within 2013. That being said, there’s no denying that it’s had some great games to play on the go. There may not be a large number of titles, but they more than make up for that with their quality.

Nominees:

– Soul Sacrifice

– Killzone: Mercenary

– Hotline Miami

– Tearaway

– Ys: Memories of Celceta

– Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut

Winner: Tearaway

If the reason for Media Molecule not showing us any PS4 games this year was because they were too focussed on developing Tearaway, we couldn’t be happier. The simple yet utterly engaging platformer employs a paper mache style to its visuals that immediately sets it apart from anything you’ve seen till date. It’s also one of the few platformers to make use of the PS Vita’s various gimmicks without any of them feeling too forced. Despite releasing in December alone, Tearaway is our pick for the PS Vita Game of the Year.
