Best Nintendo 3DS Title
To say that the 3DS had an amazing year is an understatement. In a year that saw the release of Pokémon and several titles cross the 2 million mark in Japan alone, never mind the world over, Nintendo continued to make money hand over fist with its handheld. In fact in the United States, the 3DS alone was responsible for an increase in year-on-year growth for handhelds (according to the NPD November Report). The best part is that more quality games are on the way next year with Super Smash Bros., Bravely Default 2, etc. Which title holds the distinction for topping 2013 though?
Nominees:
– Fire Emblem Awakening
– The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
– Pokémon X/Y
– Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
– Bravely Default
Winner: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
There was no way that A Link Between Worlds wasn’t going to be loved. A sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, A Link to the Past? New, improved graphics and gameplay elements? The same Zelda gameplay that we intrinsically know and love? A Link Between Worlds had all of these, but surprised us with its freshness including a new mechanic which allowed you to tackle dungeons in any order you wished by renting specific items from the shop. You also have the ability to turn into a painting to traverse between Hyrule and Lorule, opening up even more gameplay possibilities. Did we mention the return of the Seven Sages? Many of the nominees are stellar titles overall so take it as an even bigger compliment to them that A Link Between Worlds walks away with top honours.
