Gears 5 has had some very unexpected influences. From the combat being influenced by BioShock Infinite, to the game’s world being influenced by God of War, there’s a lot of things unexpected here about the upcoming shooter. Something else unexpected popped up, too, as it was revealed a big name will be joining the game soon after launch.
As announced by his official Twitter account, wrestler/actor Dave Bautista will be joining Gears 5 in some capacity. It’s not clear what his role will be, but since it’s slated to come after launch on September 15th, it’s doubtful it’s a starring role, but probably a skin or something for multiplayer. It’s also worth noting he tags WWE in the post, and the video states “Batista” is coming, which is his WWE stage name, so there may be some type of cross promotion going on there with the wrestling company. Either way, the big man is coming to the game in some form or another.
Gears 5 will launch for Xbox One and PC on September 10th. Look out tomorrow for when the review embargo lifts.
