The Coalition is working on multiple unannounced projects right now, and if reports are to be be believed, one of these is a new IP and is going to be more of an experimental project to help the studio get to grips with Unreal Engine 5. While it looks like that’ll be The Coalition’s next game though, the developer is, of course, going to be looking to the future of the Gears of War franchise as well. In fact, work on the next game in the series seems to be underway.

For a while now, job ads published by The Coalition have indicated that the studio has started the process of developing Gears 6 (or whatever it ends up being called). Another recent job listing for the position of lead mission designer specific to the Gears of War franchise suggests that, more specifically, work on the game’s campaign is underway as well.

Throughout the listing, there’s multiple mentions of the single player campaign’s missions and levels, with the ad mentioning that it’s looking for someone who can help deliver “highly engaging, high-quality campaign experiences.”

Of course, Gears 6 isn’t mentioned by name anywhere in the listing, though you would think that that’s what this is in reference to. Either way, reports have repeatedly stated that Gears 6 is farther off from launch than whatever The Coalition’s new IP ends up being, and might be a few years away yet, so don’t hold your breath for an official reveal anytime soon.

Meanwhile, recently, it was also claimed that a remastered collection of the Gears of War series is also in the works. Read more on that through here.
