Enhancing and Ascending weapons is only one part of the progression curve in Genshin Impact. You can also Ascend characters, which is necessary to overcome their level cap. Character Ascension is dependent on specific elemental materials for each character so fire-based materials will only apply to Pyro class characters. The Traveler (the starting character) is an exception to the rule, requiring their own materials for the task.

First, let’s take a look at Ascension materials for characters like Diluc, Amber, Bennett, Klee and Xiangling who are Pyro-based.

How to Level Up Talents

Did you think weapon Enhancement and Ascension materials, along with character Ascension materials, marked the end of the grind? Well, good news – you also need materials for leveling up different Talents. The range of materials to gather isn’t too wide but you’ll also need a hefty amount of Mora.

We’ve already covered the materials that can be gathered from the Forsaken Rift in Mondstadt and Taishan Mansion in Liyue, two Domains of Mastery which both require being Adventure Rank 27 for unlocking the first level. For more details, check out that guide here. Let’s take a look at the weekly boss drops and what they offer.

  • Tail of Boreas – Drops from Wolf of the North Challenge at level 70. Can level up Talents for QiQi, Venti and Xingqiu.
  • Ring of Boreas – Drops from Wolf of the North Challenge at level 70+. Can level up Talents for Barbara, Keqing, Klee and Mona.
  • Spirit Locket – Drops from Wolf of the North Challenge at level 70+. Can level up Talents for Fischl, Kaeya, Ningguang and Sucrose.
  • Dvalin’s Plume – Drops from “Confront Stormterror” at level 70+. Can level up Talents for Bennett, Diluc and Jean.
  • Dvalin’s Claw – Drops from “Confront Stormterror” at level 70+. Can level up Talents for Lisa, Noelle, Razor and Xiangling.
  • Dvalin’s Sigh – Drops from “Confront Stormterror” at level 70+. Can level up Talents for Amber, Beidou and Chongyun.

How to Forge Weapons

Not a fan of rolling for 4 star weapons? Forging is a decent alternative. It requires certain Ores – which can be forged from different materials – and Weapon Prototypes – which drop from weekly bosses or can be purchased from the Souvenir Shop. Along with taking some time, forging items also requires Mora. Time and the amount of Mora required will stack as you craft multiples of any item.

All items require three core materials:

  • Iron Chunk – Can be found in the wild or purchased from Shitou
  • White Iron Chunk – Found in the wild or purchased from Shitou. Also drops from Expeditions into the Whispering Woods, Yaoguang Shoal and Dadaupa Gorge.
  • Crystal Chunk – Found in the wild and in Stormterror’s Lair. Also drops from 8 hour, 12 hour and 20 hour Expeditions into the Whispering Woods, Yaoguang Shoal and Dadaupa Gorge.

Here are the different items that can be forged:

  • Enhancement Ore – Requires two Iron Chunks.
  • Fine Enhancement Ore – Requires three White Iron Chunks.
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore – Requires four Crystal Chunks.
  • Prototype Rancour and Iron Sting – Requires Northlander Sword Prototype, 50 Crystal Chunks and 50 White Iron Chunks.
  • Prototype Crescent and Compound Bow – Requires Northlander Bow Prototype, 50 Crystal Chunks and 50 White Iron Chunks.
  • Prototype Aminus and Whiteblind – Requires Northlander Claymore Prototype, 50 Crystal Chunks and 50 White Iron Chunks.
  • Prototype Malice and Mappa Mare – Requires Northlander Catalyst Prototype, 50 Crystal Chunks and 50 White Iron Chunks.
  • Prototype Grudge and Crescent Pike – Requires Northlander Polearm Prototype, 50 Crystal Chunks and 50 White Iron Chunks.

A special note on Forge Queues: These allow for crafting multiple items simultaneously. You’ll have access to one Forge Queue at the beginning of the game but subsequent forges unlock at AR5, AR10 and AR15.

It’s also worth noting that Enhancement Ores, which are good for Enchanting weapons, have a daily forging limit. You can’t craft Ores worth more than 300,000 Weapon XP. This includes regular Enhancement Ores, Fine Enhancement Ores and Mystic Enhancement Ores.

Cooking the Best Dishes

Finally, we come to cooking. Preparing dishes is essential thanks to the buffs they provide, including reviving fallen party members, health regeneration and much more. You can even use food to regenerate stamina though there is a limit on how much food can be used to buff the party. For more details on all of the ingredients, which vendors to find them at and the best dishes to use, check out the videos below by Mattjestic MultiGaming.
