While Sony has yet to announce sales figures for Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei, it’s off to a strong start in Europe. The GSD’s charts for the week ending October 5th (as reported by Chris Dring of The Game Business) reveal that it debuted in second place in revenue and unit sales, just behind EA Sports FC 26.

However, its launch sales are similar to Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, which had a larger install base and benefited from increased gaming interest due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dring also noted that it’s the biggest first-party title launch from Sony since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s unknown if that includes Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which released this past June.

Ghost of Yōtei launched on October 2nd for PS5 and is estimated to have sold-in over two million units to retailers by Alinea Analytics. Head here for our review – we gave it a nine out of ten, praising the world design, combat, characterization, presentation and much more.
