New gameplay of Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei is available, highlighting Atsu’s killing prowess. While there’s plenty of hacking, slashing, grappling and spear-chucking, the true star is the kusarigama, one of the many new weapons available. Check it out below.
The kusarigama, which comprises a sickle and weighted fundo attached by a chain, is great for executing enemies at a distance, as you pull them close for a quick neck slice. One technique also sees Atsu rolling through a downed enemy, slicing them in one fluid motion. All of this pales next to the ability to ignite the blade.
Similar to Ghost of Tsushima’s Way of the Flame, the flaming edge will burn enemies, dealing damage over time. Combined with the kusarigama’s range, you can take out entire groups in one fell swoop. It’s also ideal for burning wooden shields, breaching their defenses.
Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2nd for PS5. Other weapons include the katana, odachi, yari, and dual swords. Swapping weapons to deal with specific foes is encouraged, but Sucker Punch thankfully won’t force you. Head here for more details.
