God of War 3 is the epitome of grand boss fights, so it makes sense that the game closes things off with another one of those. Kratos’ final duel against his murderous, genocidal father takes many forms across its many stages- sidescrolling brawler, one-on-one duel, a fight inside Gaia, large-scale clashes of etheral powers. All of it is wrapped up into a single, epic closer that encapsulates the best tendencies of that era of the franchise in every way possible. Brutality? Check. Scale? Check. Stakes? Check. And that’s just scratching the surface.
