God of War Laufey

Following its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Santa Monica Studio has announced that God of War Laufey will launch on February 16th, 2027, for PS5. While its price hasn’t been announced, you can wishlist it now.

Even with how big of a release this is for PlayStation, arriving close to the end of the fiscal year, the timing is certainly interesting. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is out one day prior, while Persona 4 Revival follows on June 18th and Fable on February 23rd. It also has Metro 2039 to worry about, especially since there’s no fixed date in the month for its release.

Regardless, it reflects just how far along development has been, which should have been evidenced by its extensive gameplay showcase. Perhaps we’ll learn more in the coming months and see even more of the Everywhen, the new setting that Faye finds herself trapped in. Maybe we’ll see more of Phranque and Rue’s abilities, and the significance of the mysterious sword that Faye wields.

Dare we wish for any surprises or other powerful threats that she’ll have to deal with on her journey? Whatever the case may be, God of War Laufey fusion of the “old and new” combat systems that the series is known for has looked fantastic. And best of all, the physical version will come with a disc. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
