SIE Santa Monica Studio have got some big things in the works, with God of War: Ragnarok currently in development, in addition to another new unannounced game. It’ll be a while before we get to taste the fruits of their labour though, so until then, they’ve got a juicy nugget coming to keep fans sated.

The developer has confirmed that it’ll be releasing a free patch for God of War targeted for PS5 owners. It’ll enable both higher performance and higher resolution, which means PS5 players will be able to play the game at a checkerboard 4K resolution and 60 FPS. You will still have the option to go back to the 4K/30 FPS that the Favour Performance mode from the game’s PS4 Pro version allows, if for some reason you want to.

Previously, playing God of War at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5 was possible, but it could only be done if you had the disc, and if you played without any of the post-launch patches.

This patch will be releasing tomorrow, February 2 (so just a few hours from now).
