God of War Ragnarok

While physical sales charts for the region aren’t available just yet, UK charts firm Gfk reports that God of War Ragnarok is already off to a strong start. GfK boss Dorian Bloch told GamesIndustry.biz that the sequel will become the biggest launch for the series in the UK based on physical sales alone.

God of War Ragnarok will debut at No.1 and is the first cross-gen title in the series,” said Bloch. Physical sales on launch day were already higher than “any other full-week launch sales for other titles in this franchise.” At this rate, it will become the fourth title in the series to top UK physical sales charts on debut. According to Bloch, the God of War Ragnarok PS5 bundle accounts for 55 percent of sales on the console.

Stay tuned for the official top-ten chart in the coming days. Time will tell if the sequel can top the original’s total of 3.1 million sales worldwide in the first three days. It also should be interesting to see how other titles like Sonic Frontiers, which was released a day earlier, will fare.
