Counterplay Games’ Godfall earned the distinction of being the first PS5 exclusive when it was announced back at The Game Awards 2019. Gameplay for the title has since been released, showcasing the hack and slash combat along with the various environments that players will explore. In a new PlayStation Blog article, we learn a bit more about the setting of Aperion and what’s going on.

Essentially, you play as one of the last of the Valorian Knights and utilize Valorplates to stop a disaster from taking place. You’ll venture through various realms based on the elements and eventually challenge Macros, the mad-god. There’s probably more going on than meets the eye but it’s a pretty straightforward premise so far.

Along with leveling up and unlocking new skills, there are five weapon classes in total. Valorplates, like the previously teased Silvermane, are earned by playing through the game. More details on the different classes and Valorplates will be revealed in the coming days as per Counterplay Games CEO Katie Lee.

Godfall launches this holiday season for PS5 and PC. The latter is exclusive to the Epic Games Store at launch.
