Sony is kicking off 2022 strongly with a couple of significant new first party releases. One of these, Gran Turismo 7, is launching in a little over a month at this point, and fans of the long-running racing sim series have been hungry for new details and gameplay footage for the anticipated racer.

Recently, known industry insider Tom Henderson claimed that Sony was about to hold a media event for Gran Turismo 7 sometime this month, which would be followed by a round of details, footage, and more. It seems there’s been a change in plans though. Taking to Twitter, Henderson has said that the rumoured media event, which was apparently scheduled for tomorrow, has now been delayed, with Sony having provided no explanation for the delay, and when it’s going to take place now.

Of course, as Henderson points out, with Gran Turismo 7’s launch not far away, there might be some concern about what this delay means for the game’s release, or if the wait for new information is going to be longer. That said, COVID is still a factor that needs to be considered, and it’s entirely possible that that may have been the reason for this delay.

Either way, we’ll keep an eye out for more details, so stay tuned. Gran Turismo 7 is out for PS5 and PS4 on March 4.
