Polyphony Digital had an uphill battle to fight with Gran Turismo Sport, from ensuring its visuals delivered on the series’ heritage while also competing with the likes of Project CARS and Forza Motorsport. Nevertheless, it’s been a strong success, further evidenced by producer Kazunori Yamauchi’s tweet about the game having over 5 million players.

That’s not bad at all considering that Gran Turismo Sport first launched in October 2017 for PlayStation 4 and hasn’t even been out a full year. It’s been receiving regular updates and support since then. Along with preparing for its next big update for July, Polyphony Digital has also been holding live competitions alongside the real-life FIA races.

Since the game’s launch, the developers have also added GT League for more single-player content, numerous cars and track layouts, new GT League events, and much more, including the Circuit de la Sarthe track, which hosted the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018 competition. If you haven’t tried Gran Turismo Sport yet, it’s worth checking out GamingBolt’s official review here.
