At the PS5 Games Showcase, Rockstar Games opened the show by announcing that their perennially successful Grand Theft Auto 5 will be releasing for the PS5 in 2021. The game is said to be “expanded and enhanced,” though the specifics of that haven’t yet been revealed.
We can assume there will be visual upgrades, of course, but it’ll be interesting to see if the PS5 release will also come with new content. Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that PS5 owners will get Grand Theft Auto Online for free in 2021. Additionally, those who have Grand Theft Auto Online on PS4 will get a million GTA dollars every month until the launch of GTA 5 on PS5.
GTA 5 has been selling incredibly well ever since it first launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, and its successive re-releases for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC in following years have only driven up those sales even more. Doubtless, this will give the game another sales boost (not that it needs it). There’s no word yet on whether an Xbox Series X release is also planned, but it likely will be.
