Grand Theft Auto 5 Ships More Than 45 Million Units Worldwide

10 million units shipped on PS4 and Xbox One as of December 31st 2014.

Rockstar’s open world crime epic Grand Theft Auto 5 has shipped more than 45 million units worldwide according to a recent earnings report from Take Two for the quarter ending December 31st 2014. Amazingly enough, 10 million units were shipped for the Xbox One and PS4, further showcasing the wide market available on current gen consoles.

Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online were also the main sources for Take Two’s net revenue which increased to $954 million over $767.7 million in the same quarter the year prior.

Other shipment numbers revealed during the report include NBA 2K15 shipping 5.5 million units, Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise topping 29 million units shipped and Borderlands notching up 23 million units for the series till date. Along with Grand Theft Auto 5, games like NBA 2K15, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Civilization: Beyond Earth were some of the major revenue earners for Take Two.
