Well, here’s one Michael Pachter got wrong.

Rockstar Games has formally announced that the latest in their open world saga, Grand Theft Auto V, will be published by Take Two Interactive and released on September 17th 2013. It will release for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Rockstar Games Founder Sam Houser stated that, “Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet. We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”

Of course, Pachter wans’t the only one suggesting a Spring release – it’s been in the rumours circle for a while now. So why the push back to Fall, a time when most high profile games like Call of Duty compete for the hearts and wallets of gamers?

The answer is simple: additional development time. Rockstar Games wants to make sure the final product is polished to perfection before release. And after Grand Theft Auto IV, we can’t say we blame them.
