Halo 5 Guardians

343 Industries has released a new video tutorial and post for Halo 5: Guardians in order to explain the new REQ or Requisitions system that will come into play during multiplayer. It stars a cartoonish Spartan named Mister Chief and is somewhat amusing. Check it out below.

The system essentially employs cards for different purposes, namely cosmetic, permanent and consumable. These are earned through REQ Points, which can be scored based on one’s performance (must like Titanfall’s credits). While the cosmetic items represent different animations, visors, etc. the permanent REQ cards will unlock weapons. The consumables will be used to bring in heavier weapons and vehicles like the Mantis.

Contrary to belief, the REQ cards won’t alter balance. Arena and Slayer only allow cosmetic REQ cards – the others are reserved for Warzone. You can only use the REQ cards based on the amount of energy you have. As you level up, more energy is unlocked, allowing you to bring in more powerful weapons.

Halo 5: Guardians will have 1000 REQ cards at launch with more added in the months to follow. And yes, if you’re not in a mood to earn them, you can purchase them through micro-transactions.

Halo 5: Guardians is out on October 27th for Xbox One. Stay tuned for more details.
