Could the Didact still be in play?

The latest issue of the Halo comic just came out, and if you pay some attention to it, you’ll find that it drops a few hints about what the plot might be in Halo 5, or whatever  it is that the next Halo game is being called.

“The Master Chief returns in “The Next 72 Hours: Part 1”,” reads the blurb of the comic. “After defeating the Didact, John-117 joined the crew of Infinity . . . but why did he leave? The mystery begins here. Halo lead writer Brian Reed (Amazing Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel) reveals the secret events that immediately follow the end of Halo 4.”

What we do know is that soon after the events of Halo 4, the UNSC will lose contact with the Master Chief, who will go on an unknown mission without informing his superiors (or anybody else), and the UNSC will also start denying the existence of the Didact.

So we’re guessing that the story of this comic, at least, has something to do with the Didact- maybe he didn’t die? Maybe he’s still in play? As far as Halo 5 is concerned, this looks to be setting up some important groundwork. Some part of the story was teased in a previous comic as well.

Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated on this.

Thanks, CBR
