We got what’s probably among the best and most successful adaptations of a game last year with HBO’s The Last of Us, and unsurprisingly for a series that was as universally well-received as it was, it’s scooping up a significant amount of awards and accolades at well.

In fact, recently at the Creative Arts Emmy awards, The Last of Us, which was nominated for a total of 19 awards, won eight of them, with the highlights being Nick Offerman for his portrayal of Bill in episode three, titled “Long, Long Time”, and Storm Reid for her portrayal of Riley in episode seven, “Left Behind”.

The show also picked up awards for prosthetic makeup, special visual effects, main title design, sound mixing, sound editing, and picture editing.

On the same night, The Last of Us was also up for three categories at the Golden Globe Awards, but failed to win any of them. It is, however, nominated for five awards at the upcoming Primetime Emmys, including outstanding drama series, Pedro Pascal (Joel) for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) for outstanding lead actress in a drama series.

It was announced in November last year that the second season of The Last of Us will premier in 2025. It won’t cover the entirety of the second game.
