While Sony hasn’t confirmed sales numbers for Helldivers 2, it seems to have increased exponentially in the past few weeks. After Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt revealed nearly one million sales on February 12th, he recently teased almost three million units sold.
This is after an update to increase the server load for the co-op shooter, allowing it to support up to 700,000 concurrent players across all platforms. Pilestedt believed it would hit 800,000, but the weekend passed without server issues.
The development team is now working to implement improvements and resume “our original plan.” “Many exciting things” were teased, though a roadmap has yet to be revealed. The initial roadmap became outdated following the game’s success, but a new one is forthcoming. Arrowhead is also expanding its team to handle future content. Stay tuned for more updates on that front.
Helldivers 2 is available for PS5 and PC. It peaked at 458,709 concurrent players on Steam alone and ranks 20th in the all-time charts. Check out our review here.
