Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has released a new trailer for upcoming co-op shooter Helldivers 2. The trailer, focused on bringing players up to speed on the series, aims to tell the story of Helldivers so far. Check it out below.
While the original Helldivers wasn’t too focused on its story, the game did have quite an emphasis on its world building through descriptions of various missions, as well as the general themes of sending the eponymous Helldivers to their almost-certain doom on certain missions.
The new trailer largely, as such, focuses on more of the world building of Helldivers. Presented as a propaganda video, the trailer showcases the need for Helldivers to fight against the never-ending threat posed by “socialist” Automatons, as well as the Terminids spreading across the universe.
Helldivers 2 is slated for release on PC and PS5 on February 8. Arrowhead Game Studios has also revealed that the game will be getting free content after launch, including new enemies, objectives, and biomes.
