Helldivers 2 Heart of Democracy

As revealed somewhat prematurely last week, the latest update for Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 sees players venturing to Super Earth. After launching a surprise attack, the Illuminate must now be fought in the streets of the planet’s cities. Check out the trailer below.

Compared to other biomes, Super Earth’s streets offer a significantly different battleground, especially as the Illuminate attack with a massive mothership. The goal is to fight over landing areas and activate the Planetary Defense Cannons to repel the invaders. If the sense of scale wasn’t impressive enough, SEAF troops fight alongside the player.

They can even take orders to follow and assist with objectives. You’ll need to beware of civilians and prevent any wanton collateral damage, though. The update doesn’t bring any fresh armaments, but you can learn more about the new customization system added last week, where leveling a weapon unlocks new attachments.

Helldivers 2 is available for PS5 and PC. Check out our review for the base game here.
