Arrowhead Studios has released a new trailer for Helldivers 2 ahead of its launch on Xbox Series X/S (which turned out to be Sony’s idea). As you’d expect, it’s full of explosions, Automaton-stomping, Terminid-crushing and general mayhem. However, if you watch until the end, it teases a long-awaited dream collaboration. That musical chord, for those familiar with the Halo franchise, is from Halo 3: ODST. Of course, the trailer’s backdrop of a rainy city is also a dead ringer for New Mombasa, where ODST takes place.
Considering the similarities between the universe’s Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and the Helldivers, a collaboration between the two is a long time coming. Arrowhead has tied up with another Sony IP before in Killzone, adding armor sets and weapons from the franchise for players to earn. However, this will be the first time that it’s collaborating with an Xbox IP.
