Much like a good assassin, Hitman 3 sneaked up on us when it was announced at last month’s PS5 unveil from Sony. The game is the third in a new rebooted direction for the long running stealth series. It also seems it will be some degree of an endpoint for the iconic Agent 47, as it will be a concluding chapter to this new saga.

In a new video, various developers from developer IO Interactive talk about the third game, and all see it as a conclusion to the 2016 reboot. It’s been stated this will be a more serious and sober story, and it seems the third game will have a lot of callbacks to that game with story twists that will turn plot elements on their head. They also say they are pushing systems to make their sandbox levels as interesting and as challenging as possible. The details are sparse as you’d expect, but it seems this will be a stopping point for this phase of Agent 47’s storied career.

Hitman 3 launches January 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
