Hitman 3 Will Receive DLC, Not Looking at New Maps – IO Interactive

The developer is instead looking at "using existing locations" and "reimagining, twisting them."

Hitman 3

IO Interactive’s Hitman 3 launched less than two weeks ago after gaining a significant amount of critical acclaim. It’s also been very successful sales-wise for the developer, recouping its costs in less than a week and becoming the biggest digital launch in the series’ history. While new Escalation Contracts, patches and so on will be added, IO Interactive is also “definitely” going to work on DLC.

Speaking to TheGamer, executive producer Forest Swartout Large said, “We are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is. I think for now we are not looking at new maps like the bank and the island.” So unlike the previous two games, there won’t necessarily be expansions offering brand new locations and missions. What does the developer have in mind then?

According to Large, “We’re more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them. And this time around, we can use the whole trilogy. We can look back at Hitman 2016 maps, Hitman 2 maps – we have all the locations.” It’s an intriguing prospect, especially for fans who own the first two games and want more whole-sale changes. Whether this will appeal to those only playing Hitman 3 remains to be seen.

Hitman 3 is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch (via the cloud), PC and Google Stadia. You can check out GamingBolt’s official review here to learn more about it.
