Guerrilla recently confirmed that, true to leaks, it’s working on a standalone co-op multiplayer game set in the Horizon universe. Presumably, it’s going to be a while before the game is formally unveiled, which means new details on it are unlikely to emerge anytime soon- however, a job ad may have given away some interesting details about the platforms it will launch for.
As spotted by Tech4Gamers, Guerrilla recently published a job ad for the position of Game Writer on its multiplayer Horizon game, which suggests that the studio could also be planning on releasing the title for mobile devices. The listing mentions the following as one of the requirements for applicants: “at least one shipped, narrative-heavy mobile or indie game, or at least one year at a AAA studio.”
It’s not necessarily concrete evidence that the game will definitely release for mobile, but given Sony’s plans to expand in the mobile gaming space and the (presumed) live service nature of the Horizon co-op game, it wouldn’t be surprising if the company did end up bringing the game to additional platforms.
Interestingly, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst has previously said that future live service releases by PlayStation are likely to launch simultaneously for PS5 and PC, which means the Horizon game has a good chance of releasing for the latter as well.
Guerrilla has confirmed that the co-op title is set to feature a “unique stylized look”. Over 10 minutes of very early development gameplay footage were recently leaked, showing multiple playable characters sporting Fortnite-esque design aesthetics.
