Horizon: Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds Mega Guide – All Weapons, Bluegleam Farming, Pigments Locations And More

Guerrilla Games have released the first and only bit of post launch DLC Horizon Zero Dawn will ever get. The Frozen Wilds takes Aloy to a new location, introduces new weapons, skills, and a new story, and adds about 15 hours of content. Simply put, if you liked Zero Dawn, this new expansion is worth your while.

And if you want help making your way through it all, we have you covered. From starting up the DLC, new weapons, outfits, pigments, skills, door puzzle solutions, and farming Bluegleam, and of course, Trophies, we cover everything here. Let’s get started.

STARTING THE DLC

Once you buy the DLC and download it, it automatically shows up as a quest line, with the associated area and sidequests all open to you. Just remember, you should be at least Level 30, and you need to have completed A Seeker at the Gates.

WEAPONS

The Frozen Wilds adds a total of six new weapons for you to track down and collect. You can then further customize and upgrade them, as with all other weapons in Horizon.

  • Forgefire: 70 Handling, 113 Fire Damage for Normal Attack, 720 Impact, and 150 Fire Damage in secondary fire.
You get this weapon for completing the ‘Stone Yield’ quest.

You will acquire the Banuk Stormslinger when you complete the quest ‘Shaman’s Path’.

OUTFITS

The Frozen Wilds adds a total of five new outfits for you to track down and collect. You can then further customize and upgrade them, as with all other outfits in Horizon.

BLUEGLEAM FARMING

Bluegleam is the new currency that The Frozen Wilds introduces. You will need Bluegleam to buy some of the new weapons and costumes. Bluegleam is gained for completing certain quests and objectives:

  • The Forge of Winter: 7 Bluegleam
  • Trading Animal Figurines: 1 Bluegleam for each Reward Box
  • Shaman’s Path: 1 Bluegleam during Control Tower Destruction. You will earn 6 on completion
  • A Secret Shared: 1 Bluegleam
  • The Hunters Three: 3 Bluegleam
  • Firebreak: 3 Bluegleam
  • The Survivor: 3 Bluegleam
  • Waterlogged: 3 Bluegleam

Additionally, you can go to the following locations to farm Bluegleam.

ALL NEW SKILLS

The Frozen Wild adds eight new skills that Aloy can learn- these ru the whole gamut, but they are universally useful:

  • Mounted Pickup: Literally my favorite skill, this lets you pick up loot without having to get off your mount.
  • Machine Repair: Use your metal shards to repair machines.
  • Mount Repair: You can repair your mount
  • Mount Repair +: Take a wild guess
  • Shard Salvager: Break down your resources into half their Metal Shard value
  • Hoarder: Your inventory slots are increased by 20%.
  • Dismount Strike: Aloy launches from her steed and strikes down enemies with a devastating blow
  • Expert Carver: Increase your chance of looting items such as Lenses, Hearts, and Skins.

PIGMENTS

For some reason – actually, we know the reason, this is an open world game, so collectathons are par for the course – but anyway, Aloy is tasked with collecting nine pigments. You can either stumble around the map to try and find them yourself, or you can just… use the video below so you know where to look. It’s our choice.

DOOR PUZZLE SOLUTIONS
