id Software: Update On Doom 4

Posted By | On 10th, Jun. 2011

A few weeks back we had interviewed Tim Willits, creative director on Rage and during that interview we got the confirmation that they are working on a new Doom title. Now Tim Willits has re-confirmed the same, stating that work on a new Doom game is under progress somepart of which he owes to Bethesda.

He said: “The senior management said, ‘you guys want to make games. We are not going to mess with that, but we’re going to give you the opportunity to grow another team’ – everybody knows we have a Doom team working on the new Doom with this technology – and they say ‘hey, we know how to market games, we know how to publish them and distribute them, you do what you do best and we’ll do what we do best.'”

“And so far it’s been great… their only requirement [for the new Doom game] is that it be awesome.”

So there you have it, work on Doom 4 is truly under way and we expect an official announcement very soon. In other news RAGE was delayed by a month and will now release in October 2011.

Stay tuned for more news and updates.
