The original code name for Half-Life was Quiver,
It’s really hard to imagine that one of the most popular games and probably one of the most recognizable franchises was originally named Quiver. But it is true that the original code name for Half-Life was Quiver. Gabe Newell went on to explain in an interview that the name Half-Life was chosen because it was not clichéd, and had a corresponding visual symbol: the Greek letter lambda, which represents the decay constant in the half-life equation. That explanation is a little too deep if you ask me.
